The Pre-Business Program at Concordia University Irvine is a unique experience for undergraduate students considering a B.A. in Business Administration. This program was developed to improve the probability of success for students who choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree and offer exposure to students considering the business admin major.
The Pre-Business Program provides a well-rounded business education by offering the same core business courses as the bachelor’s in business administration program. Once you’ve completed the business administration core courses — and you’ve met GPA requirements — you can apply to become a business major at Concordia.
If you choose a B.A. pathway, you must finish all business core courses before being eligible to apply to the School of Business and Economics as a business major. In addition, you’ll also need an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 and a business GPA of 2.5 to meet requirements.
Should you commit to the Pre-Business Program and follow a business path for your career, the outlook is great. From 2023 to 2033, business and financial occupations could increase by over 960,000 jobs a year, on average.1

What is the meaning of business admin?
Business administration covers a wide range of job functions and responsibilities. Because it’s such a general study area, it can open doors to plenty of opportunities after graduation.
Some of the duties you could take on with a business administration degree include:
- Financial management
- Human resources
- Legal and ethical compliance
- Marketing
- Operations management
- Strategic planning
Is business administration a popular major?
Yes. In fact, in 2021-22 — some of the most recent data available — about 19% of all bachelor’s degrees conferred were in business.2 (That’s over 375,000 out of 2 million!)2
What’s the difference between business administration and pre-business at Concordia?
If you’re a student in a business administration degree program, it means you’ve met all of the requirements to be accepted into the School of Business and Economics upon arrival at Concordia.
If you haven’t quite met eligibility, you may opt for the Pre-Business Program route. This program gives you additional time to meet the admission requirements as you take your business core courses.
